Dear Friends and Family,
Mallory Zoey Kalvan will always be our daughter. You may know her as your granddaughter, niece, cousin, or sister. For some of you when you found out that Jack and Jeri had twins on the way, one boy and one girl you had that moment of joy or surprise and she became a hope or a dream, an expectaton, or fantasy in your mind. To us she was an amazing little miracle of a spot on an ultrasound, a flicker of life in Jeri's belly and as time went on it was apparent that she was destined to be an acrobat or perhaps a kick boxer. We imagined that she might be Max's partner as they became stars in partner acrobatics, and of course she would have been a 5 club juggler by age 5. She was much more than a hope and dream to us. She was a real little treasure. We heard her first cry as she was taken much too early from the womb and we stood by her and watched her battle for her 6 days of life.
We are creating a Mallory Memory Book and you are welcome to contribute to it if you wish. Here are some ways you can contribute:
*Make a contribution to the March of Dimes. Go to http://www.marchofdimes.com, click on "HOW YOU CAN HELP", and click on "donation in memory" or "donation in honor" . We will include the receipt in Mallory's book.
*Plant some wildflowers or a tree or something somewhere and send us an e-mail or a note telling us about what you did.
*Send us a poem, story, or letter that helps us remember or honor Mallory in some way.
*Do a good deed in honor of Mallory. Give a toy to a child in need, comfort a friend, lend a helping hand to anybody and do it in honor of Mallory. Then send us a little note describing what you have done.
*Make up your own way of honoring Mallory.
You can send your contributions to jack@kalvan.net or jeri@kalvan.net.
If sending something by regular post, our address is: 6232 Mary Ellen Avenue, Van Nuys, CA 91401.
With Love,
Jack and Jeri
For Mallory
The sun, behind clouds
Is so hidden away
The sky, raining tears
Steal the smiles from the day
The long winding road
Can seem too steep to climb
The journey brings sorrow,
With no end to find
The clock just keeps ticking,
Moments drift into time
The song in the heart
Has no word, note, or rhyme
The salt on the cheek
Marks the passage of pain
The mind seeking reason
Only struggles in vain
The new dawn comes slow,
Ending night with its rays
The gift of tomorrow
Speaks of happier days
The love will be with us,
And the face, still we'll see
The light you gave to us
Shines so bright, Mallory
