Ellen Kalvan Archives - 1998

Ellen Kalvan in 2030 ?
(December 1998 prediction by morphing Jack and Kathy)

November 98 news
Ellen is a happy, healthy 18-pounder who surprises us with new tricks every day (such as turning her tongue upside down). Latest ambitions: standing and cruising. Sleeping: 8 p.m. to 6-7 a.m. Favorite foods: Cheerios, plain yogurt, bananas. Favorite toys: books, 8-in-1 Play Center, measuring spoons. Favorite place to go: Supermarket. Word of the day: ba ba ba.
In October, we took two trips, and Ellen was a great little traveler. The first was to Sacramento (where Daddy was working), San Francisco (where she sat on a turtle and tried to bite into a chocolate bar -- see photos below), and Lodi (for fun with friends at a juggling festival). The second trip was to Florida to visit Grandma Hazel, Great-Grandma Lillie, Great-Grandpa Joe, and Grandpa Jay. Even though American Airlines lost her stroller, Ellen had a great time and served as an ambassador of happiness and babyhood.

August 98 update: Ellen is happy, healthy, and starting to crawl. She has mild interest in cereal and fruit. Peas are yucky. However, she'd chew on Jack's shoes all day if he'd let her.

June 98 update: Ellen was four months old, 24" tall and about 14 pounds. She could roll over and sit by herself when propped up froggy-style.
She was ready to travel back east and meet Jack's family for the first time.
Here is Ellen (center) with her grandmother, Hazel (right).

Early photos taken 2/98 and 3/98. She was always sleepy and occasionally cross-eyed.

Ellen Dana Kalvan was born on Feb. 7, 1998 at 3:20 pm.
She weighed in at 8.0 lbs and measured 19.5 inches long.
We conservatively estimated her I.Q. to be well over 200.
These pix were taken in the hospital, shortly after entering the outside world.

This was actually the first picture, taken 9/15/97.

This artist's composite (created before the birth) was what we expected the baby to look like.
